Ground Operations Manager and Nominated Person




TUIfly Nordic operates from various countries in the Nordics region in accordance with the requirements of the Market tour operator. This includes a number of regional airports as well as the main airports at Stockholm and Gothenburg in Sweden, and Helsinki in Finland. The purpose of the TUIfly Nordic Ground Operations Manager and Nominated Person role is to ensure appropriate oversight of all Ground Operations activities across this region and, in close liaison with TUI Aviation colleagues, overseas destinations within the TUIfly Nordics flying programme. This role is critical to maintaining TUI’s reputation as safe, secure and progressive operator.


What You Will Be Doing


Dual reporting to the TUIfly Nordics Managing Director and Accountable Manager, and to the Director of Operations, the TUIfly Nordic Ground Operations Nominated Person has the following responsibilities:


• Is the Ground Operations Nominated Person responsible to the Accountable Manager for the TUIfly Nordic Air Operator Certificate (AOC)

•Providing clear information, reporting and recommendation to the Accountable Manager for the TUIfly Nordic AOC associated with maintaining the company’s AOC as outlined in EASA and national legislation and regulation

• Ensure oversight of safe and compliant Ground Operations activity to maintain the AOC as outlined in EASA and national legislation and regulation

• Establishing and maintain effective and progressive relationships with Transportstyrelsen, the National Aviation Authority of Sweden

• In close cooperation with TUI Aviation Ground Operations colleagues, provide regular and visible TUI presence and representation across TUI Nordic region airports

• Develop strong working relationships with contracted third party handling agents and service providers within the Nordics region

• In collaboration with TUI Aviation Ground Operations colleagues ensure clear understanding and management of TUIfly Nordics Safety Performance Indicators, objectives, risks, hazards, trends facilitating opportunities for learning and improvement

• Work closely with TUI Aviation Ground Operations and TUIfly Nordics Safety and Security Manager to investigate occurrences, undertake root cause analysis and support the implementation of corrective and preventative measures

• Using company and industry information, drive safety and compliance awareness and continuous improvement for the Nordics operation across internal colleagues and external service providers

• Actively contribute to local airline and TUI Aviation Safety Action Groups and safety and compliance initiatives

• Identify, report and manage safety, security and compliance risks in relation to the TUIfly Nordics operation

• Maintain oversight of Dangerous Goods procedures and processes for TUIfly Nordic.

• Work closely with TUI Aviation Ground Operations and TUIfly Nordics Safety and Security Manager to investigate occurrences, undertake root cause analysis and support the implementation of corrective and preventative measures

• Develop strong working relationships with wider airline and Aviation functions including Ground Operations, Flight Operations, Safety Compliance and AOC, Operations Control, Inflight Service, Supplier Management and Procurement, Engineering and Maintenance, Customer Delivery, enabling collaborative approach to understanding and addressing Ground Operations safety and compliance issues for the Nordics AOC

• Contribute to and where appropriate lead Safety Case and Management of Change documents

• Understand and apply the company Management Systems to ensure safety, security and compliance across TUIfly Nordics ground activities at all airports

• Oversight and approval of TUIfly Nordics Ground Operations Manual (GOM) content and revisions

• Participate in and/or facilitate collaborative projects for the purposes of managing safety and compliance

• Attend Safety Board and Compliance Board ensuring accurate representation of Ground Operations safety and compliance issues and initiatives

• Attend TUI Aviation Ground Operations Board and other meetings as required to represent the TUIfly Nordics AOC

• Maintain knowledge of regulatory developments and initiatives by Transportstyrelsen and/or EASA in relation to Ground Operations

• Develop credible and appropriate responses to changes in the regulatory environment, influence regulatory developments

• As required, represent the TUIfly Nordics Accountable Manager, Director of Operations Director and TUI Aviation Ground Operations

• Undertake out of hours on-call responsibilities to respond to operational incidents and emergencies


What We Are Looking For


• A regulatory specialist with experience of Ground Operations in the Nordics geographical and aviation context

• A collaborative and credible communicator with the ability to influence internally and externally

• Ability to work remotely, flexibly and independently

• Regular travel will be required to ensure presence at airports across the Nordics countries of Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway

• Occasional international travel will be required in relation to TUI Aviation collaboration and TUIfly Nordics destination operations
